“Lewisville Face-Off” (Final day to view)
This exhibition features select works from Portrait Society of America member artists who were invited to participate in the Lewisville Face-Off – A Live Portrait Painting Event held here at the Lewisville Grand Theater on May 18, 2025. Models for the event were Lewisville community members. This exhibition includes examples of paintings from each artist’s collection and portraits they painted during the live event.
About Portrait Society of America: The purpose of the Portrait Society of America (PSOA) is to foster and enhance an understanding of the practice, techniques and applications of traditional fine art portraiture and figurative works. The PSOA hosts an annual educational convention with demonstrations. The face-offs are a huge part of the convention. They allow the ambassadors to create portraits to educate the public and other artists in their state.
The PSOA chooses state ambassadors that are artists in the trade. They vote on the artists from images sent to the association through an association application.
Mary Kearney Hull was chosen to represent the northern portion of Texas and has been hosting annual Texas face-off events. The face-off has grown in interest and size and is used to educate and share our wonderful artists in the entire Texas area. The Texas members received an invitation to submit to the face-off competition. The artists at the PSOA headquarters chose the top artists and the images used to promote the face-off. We have artists arriving from all over Texas to share their dedication and artistry.
Partial funding provided by: City of Lewisville Artist Microgrant.
This exhibition will be on display in the Administration Wing Gallery from May 20-July 12, 2025. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and evenings when there are other public programs scheduled in the building.
