Sacred Ground: Framing the Forgotten

Sacred Ground: Framing the Forgotten
Presented by the City of Lewisville
June 19-July 12

Presented in conjunction with the premiere of the documentary Sacred Ground: The Legacy Beneath Lewisville, this historical photo exhibition highlights the lives and legacies of the Fox-Hembry and Champion families—Black residents whose presence and contributions shaped early Lewisville.

Featuring archival photographs and contextual materials, the exhibition invites reflection on the people and places that have long been part of the city’s foundation but often left out of its mainstream narrative. Sacred Ground: Framing the Forgotten serves as a visual tribute to those whose impact endures.

The exhibition runs June 19 – July 12 in the Educational Hallway Gallery. Gallery hours are Tuesday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., and during evening public events at the Lewisville Grand Theater. The Lewisville Grand Theater will be closed early on July 1 at 3 p.m. and will be closed on July 4 for the Independence Day holiday.

To reach The Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
