Join the Visual Art League of Lewisville as they kick off an exciting New Year of art at the Lewisville Grand Theater! Visual Art League of Lewisville’s first art exhibition for 2025, Strictly Abstract will inspire and delight the senses. VAL member and Exhibits Committee Chair, Crystal Nelson, is the curator and Randall Garrett is the judge for this member-only art exhibition.
About the Judge: Randall Garrett earned his BFA from West Texas A&M followed by an MFA at the University of North Texas. He has been involved in creating art spaces such as 500x Gallery and Plush Gallery. He has traveled extensively throughout Mexico where he lived and worked for five years. He is currently the Gallery and Art Collection Manager for Dallas College. His work involves collage, assemblage, spoken word, and film.
Opening reception and awards: Awards for this exhibition include First Place $500, Second Place $350, Third Place $200, four Honorable Mentions @ $100 each, plus three other awards. The opening reception is Saturday, Jan 11, 7-9 p.m. Awards will be announced at 8 p.m. All Visual Art League of Lewisville art exhibitions and receptions are free and open to the public. Light snacks and wine will be served during the opening reception. Dress code is casual.
Conversations with artists: On Sunday, Jan 26, 3-5 p.m., join the Visual Art League of Lewisville for an informal and inspiring “chat” session. VAL members who have art in the Strictly Abstract art exhibition will discuss the who, what, and why behind their art on display. Artists will share the dramatic details, the mishaps and their triumphs. This is a wonderful opportunity for artists and the community to gather and exchange ideas.
Join, listen, and ask questions in a positive setting where people are encouraged to uplift, learn, gather inspiration, and build community.
The Grand is Lewisville’s home for the arts. It presents a variety of regional and national touring performers, art exhibits, and classes, while also giving the many arts groups in the greater Lewisville area a facility to perform and display their works. Its multiple performance spaces play host to a variety of events, including live music, theater, dance performances, comedy shows, and more. The center features the 294-seat Huffines Performance Hall, black box theater, recital hall, art gallery, and courtyard.
To reach The Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
