“Songs Without Words” exhibition

Interdisciplinary artist Jacob Johnson seamlessly blends his talents as a classical guitarist and fine art photographer in Songs Without Words, on view in the Education Hallway Gallery at Lewisville Grand Theater from July 18–August 15. Thoughtfully conceived as a unified artistic experience, Songs Without Words explores the relationship between music and photography, inviting viewers to “hear” visual imagery and “see” musical expression. The project is comprised of a photobook, an EP of solo guitar music, and public exhibition, which includes a live musical performance by Johnson himself. Join us for the opening reception on Sunday, July 19 from 6–8 p.m. Musical performance will begin at 7 p.m.

Jacob Johnson is a musician and photographer based in the Dallas area. Johnson specializes in guitar and lute performance and offers personalized private instruction. His repertoire spans the 16th century to the present day, and includes many popular tunes arranged for solo guitar. Johnson is a published arranger and composer of music for guitars and other instruments and has been published as a music essayist.

The Education Hallway Gallery at the Lewisville Grand Theater is open to the public Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and during public events. Exhibitions are always free to visit.

To reach The Grand from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. The Grand will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Church streets, or at Lewisville City Hall across Church Street from the center.
