VAL Art Talk at Lewisville Grand Theater
Join the Visual Art League of Lewisville for its monthly general meeting at Lewisville Grand Theater. Each month in conjunction with the general meeting, VAL produces an “Art Talk” series of known speakers and art demonstrations that are free and open to the public. Join us for an engaging evening with Amber Goodwin, multidisciplinary artist and educator, as she talks about “Acrylic Flow Abstraction with Intention.”
Topics Covered:
- Creating art with purpose by utilizing acrylic mediums to achieve different results in a painting.
- Discover color as a form of energy and how to use it to communicate emotion.
- Creating a connection with your materials to create art that feels meditative and intentional.
- Exploring how fluid art can provide balance and control by blending technique with trust, and embracing beauty in the unexpected.
- Using fluid art to create personal expression and bringing those experiences into your work.
Amber Goodwin is a Pakistani American artist whose layered textured abstractions explore the relationship between control and intuition, heritage and reinvention.
Raised in the American South by immigrant parents, she grew up navigating the space between cultural preservation and assimilation. That duality continues to inform her vivid, tactile compositions. With a background in biology and a career in medical research, she approaches her work with a spirit of observation and experimentation, where chance and structure work in tandem.
Goodwin’s work draws from the visual traditions of South Asia, where color, ornament, and repetition carry symbolic weight, as well as the scientific forms she once studied; cells, cycles, systems. These influences come together in circular motifs and dimensional surfaces that suggest protection, meditation, and memory.
VAL Art Talks take place the second Tuesday of each month at the Lewisville Grand Theater, 100 N. Charles St, in Old Town Lewisville.
